Which Day?

VIEWPOINT

God established the Sabbath at the end of the creation of the universe.

FACT

The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week, the day we know as Saturday.

BLUE VIEWPOINT

God set the day in stone, and then made it clear by withholding the manna on the seventh day.

Look at any standard calendar. What is the first day of the week? What is the seventh? Now, why do people say that "their" sabbath is Sunday? For those who think it can be any seventh day, read Exodus. It does not say that on a seventh day He rested - it says the seventh day. In the desert He made it clear which day was the Sabbath with the availability of manna. The Jews have kept that same seventh day ever since.

You do not have to be a Jew to keep the Sabbath. In fact, read Isaiah chapter 56 and you will see that anyone who wants to belong to the Lord and serve Him will keep the Sabbath - the seventh day. If you don't want to read the whole chapter, just look at verse 6
And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, all who keep the Sabbath without desecrating it and who hold fast to my covenant-- (NIV)

, and you will see that he rewards those who keep it. But when you keep it, you declare the God that you worship to be the same One who made the covenant with all people who believe in Him.

It has never been changed to any other day. Did Jesus say that He was Lord of Sunday? He declared that He should know how to keep the Sabbath, He is Lord of it. Sunday may be "your" Sabbath, but it is not God's Sabbath.
