Gay "Rights"?

VIEWPOINT

Rights are those privileges given to you by God or by the laws of society.

FACT

Members of society have certain rights.

BLUE VIEWPOINT

How far can men go in giving "rights" to others?

Everyone knows that we are free to exercise our rights as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others in our society. The trouble is that we do not get to determine what constitutes a right, nor to determine when exercising a right begins to infringe on the rights of others. It seems that we have politically correct minority "committees" telling us those definitions without any input from the majority.

Stepping over the edge of sanity

When did the right of a man to marry a man come into existence? June 26, 2015 the Supreme Court ruled that gay marriages must be recognized in all 50 states. This flies directly in the face of the MAJORITY of voters in at least Oklahoma, Utah, Wisconsin, and Virginia who voted against the change in their states. The rights of the voters in those states to keep their state marriages traditional have been infringed upon - the right to decide by voting. Stepping back, those who voted against gay marriage in all the other states no longer have the right to live in a traditional state. So, not only did gay people gain a new "right", other citizens lost a right - running things in obedience to God - by a MINORITY vote. How is this legal? Do we have a list of rights that cannot be taken away from us, or are they all now subject to the whim of sodomizers, lesbians, and those who agree with them?

It's our own fault if we do nothing

Now, let's say that the members of the Supreme Court lose their cushy salaries some time in the future, because of the currently shrinking economy, and find it difficult to keep their cushy lifestyle without some sort of a boost in income. Can we, as a people, bring a petition before the court to outlaw gay marriage, and suggest that we will support some favorite charity of theirs? I know, I know, but if we could get that case before the now hungry supreme court (Caps omitted intentionally), and were able to find a way to augment their cause in a persuasive manner that would make a majority of the court members sympathetic to our cause, could we take that right away from the gays in the same way they took it away from us?

If you answer "NO! That is now a right!", then how did we lose our "rights" in the first place? If we cannot do this, then how many rights have we actually lost now and how many will we lose in the future? If you answer the majority rules, tell that to Oklahoma, Utah, Wisconson, and Virginia voters. If you say that the majority of the supreme court rules, then let us traditionalists get our rights back by petitioning the courts.

I think you would find that any attempt to exercise this legal right to petition the courts would be met with the same resistance as a popular presidential candidate with a majority of properly cast votes who has to fight against deliberately prejudicial rules made up by the party that "supports" him. These rules have always been in place, but are only used when the will of the ruling minority is threatened. The public media outcry would ignore the majority and "shout down" anyone who tried to exercise their "rights". When these rights are not protected by the government who swore to protect them, what is left? Socialism.
