While we are "sleeping"...
People have responsibilities. They work, raise families, help the community, and all the other important things that keep society working. Some people take on the responsibility of working to protect the community from those who do not accept their responsibility to make society work, or criminals that work against those who do. Some become soldiers, policemen, firemen, and other helpful careers to keep things working, and allow the rest of us to live our lives.
Being responsible in today's society requires more and more effort to maintain what we have gained over the hundreds of years this country has been around. People become so focused on their lives that they depend on others to run the government. The problem is that fewer and fewer are looking up from their lives to see what those on capitol hill are doing and for whom they are doing it.
Less and less for the guy who earns it
As many of you have heard, we are on a path that, if we follow it to the end, will end this country as we know it. I know, but have you ever thought about that statement before you poo poo it? If I am wrong, then it should be easy for you to present a case against my claim. But if you just react emotionally and call me an idiot, then you are walking dow the path I described. What is that path? The road to large government. When more is paid to government workers and programs than is taken in from non-government workers, what is the solution? There is only one - raise taxes. But, if half of the workers in the country work for the government, and they make, on average, twice that of the average private worker, WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM? Borrow more? Try that at home - it doesn't work.
Here is my proposal: Watch this youtube video "Losing the Country". If, after viewing it, you disagree, then present your argument by clicking on the Contact link and let us know. We will post your response on the opposing Viewpoint side, and as long as your response is publicly presentable (acceptable language and images) and pertains to the point we are discussing, without editing. We know that not everyone agrees with us, but few are willing to present their cases becuase they cannot find a foundation other than fanatic, emotional belief, often based on the views of others that they have accepted without critical analysis.
Obviously, enough of the voters wanted larger government to elect a president that would give them what they wanted. In the past this has been both Democrats and Republicans. The problem is, when government, supported by the taxpayers, gets large enough, the money paid to government employees becomes a larger amount than that paid in taxes by the workers.
We need smaller government, and we need to start now.
The problem is getting started. To take any organization that has become bloated and trim it to a manageable size requires painful action. Someone is going to feel the pain. The longer we wait the more pain will be felt. If we do not start the trimming process before the "50% tipping point", this country will cease to exist and we will be ripe fruit for picking by any dictator willing to step up and take over, if he isn't here already.
